How to Plan a Restaurant Furniture Package

by Cabana Miami on Jul 25, 2026
Handcrafted restaurant dining chair in natural materials

A restaurant furniture package connects the design concept to guest comfort, seating capacity, service flow and daily operations. Selecting individual products without reviewing the complete layout can lead to incorrect heights, crowded circulation, difficult cleaning or delivery problems. A coordinated package begins with the floor plan.

1. Define Every Seating Zone

Separate the project into dining room, bar, lounge, private dining, terrace, waiting, host and service areas. Each zone may need a different seat height, comfort level, material and footprint.

2. Match Chairs and Tables

Dining chair seat height must work with the underside of the table and any apron or support structure. Armchairs need enough clearance to slide under the table. Table bases should allow comfortable legroom without interfering with the chair position.

3. Confirm the Table Mix

A practical schedule may include two-top, four-top, communal, round, bar-height and ADA-accessible tables. Movable small tables can increase layout flexibility, while large communal or live-edge tables create visual impact but require more fixed planning.

4. Calculate Quantities Carefully

Use the final floor plan rather than estimates. Include spare chairs or stools when appropriate, especially for custom finishes or items that may be difficult to match later. Separate opening-day requirements from future phases.

5. Select Materials by Location

  • Indoor dining: Teak, natural rattan, woven rope, upholstered seating and solid wood tables.
  • Covered terrace: Teak, aluminum, synthetic weave and performance fabrics.
  • Exposed exterior: Outdoor-rated frames, synthetic fibers, drainage and UV-aware finishes.
  • Bar area: Durable footrests, stable bases and cleanable surfaces.

6. Consider Cleaning and Maintenance

Operations teams should be involved before final selection. Deep grooves, delicate natural fibers and light upholstery may require more care. Removable covers, replaceable cushions and accessible surfaces can simplify long-term maintenance.

7. Coordinate Custom Finishes

Wood tone, rope color, metal finish and upholstery should be approved together. Natural material variation remains visible, but an approved sample helps establish the intended color and texture range.

8. Verify Delivery Access

Measure doors, elevators, stairways and service corridors. Large tables, booths and sculptural pieces may require removable bases, on-site assembly or special handling. Confirm receiving and storage plans before shipment.

9. Build a Clear Procurement Schedule

Include specification approval, samples, production, transport, receiving, inspection and installation. Custom furniture should not be scheduled as if it were local off-the-shelf inventory.
